Colin LaReaux, President

In 1996 Colin was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Disease, a type of lymphatic cancer. Thanks to the incredible medical staff at Upstate Golisano Children’s Hospital, Colin successfully completed treatment, and today, he remains cancer free. He credits the care and compassion he received while treating at Upstate Golisano, and the unwavering support of his family and friends for his health today.

Recognizing that not every child is as fortunate as he was, Colin started 315K For the Cure along with Brooke Hoffman as a means to raise funds for pediatric cancer patients treating at Upstate Golisano Children’s Hospital, with the hope of making things just a little easier for them as they battle a common enemy.

Colin resides in Utica New York, the City in which he was raised and returned to after several years away. He is a practicing attorney, CrossFit coach, and soccer coach and player. He enjoys combining his profession and personal interests to benefit 315K For the Cure, and is always looking for opportunities to help fight pediatric cancer.

 Brooke Hoffman, Vice President

In the summer of 2003, Brooke was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Disease. Knowing that Colin was a Hodgkin’s Disease survivor and seeing how well he was doing was a huge help for Brooke on her own road to recovery.  Brooke treated at University Physicians in Oneida, NY- a satellite office of Upstate Medical Center.  Brooke credits the treatment and care that she received from the nurses and doctors at Upstate, as well as the love and support from family and friends for her recovery and will celebrate 13 years cancer free this year!

Brooke  is an avid competitive runner, having competed in cross country and indoor and outdoor track in high school. While cancer briefly sidelined her from competing at a collegiate level, she was able to develop her passion  for running by receiving her coaching certification along with her Bachelor’s Degree while attending SUNY Oneonta.  After kicking cancer’s butt, Brooke made her return to running in a big way, opting to take on marathons and triathlons!  She most recently completed her first Ultramarathon, a 60 kilometer race through New York City’s Central Park.  Brooke is a member of various running clubs and is always looking to push the envelope when it comes to her next physical challenge.

Brooke has always had the desire to give back to the cancer community.  In addition to 315K For the Cure, she is a volunteer coach for the Cancer to 5k Program in which she trains cancer survivors who are interested in completing their first race after sickness.

Brooke currently resides in Utica and works as a Contract Specialist for the Federal Government.
