Soon after we formed 315K For The Cure, we were introduced to the NY State Chive, a group of fun loving individuals whose goal is to “party with a purpose”. With their help, we raised $1,700 at the first Halfway to Saint Patrick’s Day Fundraiser in September 2014. They were by our side at the Second Annual Halfway event in 2015 when we raised $7,200 and started to realize just how beneficial our partnership could be for local pediatric cancer patients.
We set lofty expectations for 2016, hoping to raise $10,000 at the Third Annual Halfway Event. We started early, selling our incredibly sexy and highly renowned t-shirts. In May, we enlisted the help of the CrossFit Utica community who hosted the “Clash for the Cure” competition/fundraiser. We kept the ball rolling with a 315K For the Cure Happy Hour at the Saranac Brewery in July.
All of our planning culminated last Saturday at the Celtic Harp at the Third Annual Halfway to St. Patrick’s Day event. We are proud to announce that we were able to raise a total of $12,500!!!!!!!!
Whether you sponsored the event, donated items to the silent auction, bought a t-shirt, partied with us last weekend, or all of the above, we cannot thank you enough and we are incredibly grateful for your support.
As usual, the majority of these funds will be directed to the pediatric oncology unit at the Upstate Golisano Children’s Hospital in Syracuse. However, this year, we are donating a portion of the proceeds directly to a brave little girl who is currently battling Leukemia at Upstate Golisano. We had the opportunity to attend a benefit for Liliana on the afternoon of our event, and after meeting Liliana and her family, we made the decision to donate a portion of the proceeds directly to her. She won us over and we wish her the best as she continues to fight the disease. Cancer touches us all, and it is for kids like Liliana that we continue to do what we do.
Again, we thank everyone who had a part in helping us this year! We owe a large debt of gratitude to so many people and we look forward to making this event bigger and better each year!!
